Eric Richenstein Memorial Fund in Response to Coronavirus
IMG_0396.jpeg

Eric Richenstein, 37, tragically passed away on March 5, 2020, in a ski accident on the Corona run at Eldora Mountain in Colorado where he lived. His mother is Supplies for Success’ Founder and President. Eric was one of Supplies for Success first volunteers and committed to its mission.

We at Supplies for Success feel responsible to act not just to safeguard ourselves and our own families during this Coronavirus pandemic and beyond, but also those children in our communities whose needs are greater than ours.

To respond to the crisis, Supplies for Success established the Eric Richenstein Memorial Fund in honor of Eric’s memory. Eric’s family has donated the funds to immediately help the first 3,000 children and to respond to future emergencies, in keeping with our mission, as they may arise.

Our leadership team reached out to our community partners and suppliers to see how we could be most helpful. The families we serve struggle with poverty, food insecurity, domestic violence, homelessness and many other issues that make them even more vulnerable during this crisis.  Plus, we have the frontline health care workers' and first responders' kids to worry about and care for. With schools closed, many of our children are left to teach themselves and likely, fall further and further behind.

In response to the crisis and poverty, we created and shipped nearly 50,000 CareKits for children ages 3-8+ so they can use art supplies, modeling clay, coloring/activity books, paper, glue, safety scissors, and more to constructively occupy themselves, problem solve, create, and learn. In addition to providing happiness for the kids, it is our hope that the CareKits will provide some much-needed relief for their stressed-out parents or other caregivers.

We’ve collaborated with many Feeding America Food Banks like Island Harvest and Feeding Westchester, hospitals like Northwell Health and Johns Hopkins, 80+ homeless and domestic violence shelters and human service organizations. With your help, we have expanded to NYC, NJ, CT, MD, FL, TN, and beyond! THANK YOU!! But the requests keep coming in and we need help to meet the need!

So many of you have asked us how you can help the children Supplies for Success supports.

Here’s how you can help:

Please consider donating to the Eric Richenstein Memorial Fund by donating $15.00 to supply a CareKit to a child in need. Please help as many kids as you can.  OR become a fundraiser! It's easy and so helpful! Just click the button on the donation page and share with family and friends. Or host your own CareKit Assembly Event. Contact us.

PLEASE DONATE HERE or pick up your phone and Text Eric4kids to 44321 to support our response to the lingering Coronavirus pandemic in Eric’s memory.

The Eric Richenstein Memorial Fund within Supplies for Success will remain funded to provide CareKits and respond to emergencies in keeping with our mission as crises arise.

Thank you! We are in this together!
